The Oracle Gé was created by Gérard Barbier and published in 1991. Gérard Barbier is no stranger to esotericism, since he’s a psychic. He decided to create his own divination tool, which he then brought to market. Its success has made this oracle a reference deck in the esoteric world.
Let’s study it together.
The Oracle Gé has 61 cards with simple, evocative artwork that makes interpretation easy. That’s an undeniable advantage, and it’s why we recommend it to people who are just beginning their esoteric studies. Because the cards speak for themselves, you don’t need to turn to the book as often. Reading a spread becomes easy: you simply look at it.
Looking back on our experience, my mother Rouge Pivoine and I have noticed that the predictions made with the Oracle Gé all came true faster than those made with any other deck.
In short, if you’re looking for short-term predictions, we recommend turning to the Oracle Gé.
Now we invite you to read our own interpretation of the Oracle Gé, drawn from our experience and expertise.
The Oracle Gé has 61 cards. Here is what each of them means:
The Sun points to coming success, with a small financial gain. The radiant sun can also point to the summer season.
Its light shines fully on the querent’s life, and they can rejoice in such a brilliant success. They can be pleased with this long-awaited achievement. It’s the completion of a project. Everything suggests that the querent has made the efforts needed to get what they wanted.
The Rose represents happiness, beauty, and fulfillment.
This card speaks of triumph for the querent. Everything that was budding finally blossoms in all its splendor and richness. The rose opens to the world and enhances everything around it.
The querent will be able to share their positive vibes with everyone around them. They can be proud of themselves and of what they’ve achieved. It may have taken time, but in the end, they’ll be all the more delighted. The qualities of the heart (nobility, sincerity, loyalty) are always rewarded.
Spring shows the importance of the season in the spread. If the querent wants to date an event, Spring is the answer they’re given.
Spring is also a sign that everything that was budding will slowly ripen and bear fruit.
It’s a season of radiance, gentleness, and peace. Everything develops calmly and serenely. The querent has nothing to worry about. All they need to do is let things unfold: Destiny will lead them to success.
Fire symbolizes the warmth of the family hearth. It represents both the family and the home.
Family relationships take on their full importance. The querent may withdraw into the family circle, at the expense of their other relationships (emotional, romantic, professional…). In any case, it’s from their closest circle that the querent draws energy, love, and protection.
If the querent wants to know whether a new relationship is a positive one, this card strongly suggests they’ve met the love of their life: the person with whom they can build a relationship that leads to starting a family.
And if the querent wants to know whether she’ll have a child, everything suggests the plan is well on its way.
New contacts are coming for the querent. They’re encouraged to seize every chance to expand their network. Communication needs to be developed. It flows smoothly and clearly. The querent gets what they want through the connections they manage to build.
Any means of communication will do: social media, a website… and every opportunity to communicate more is worth taking: outings, trade shows…
In any case, the querent can rest assured: the message they want to get across will be well received.
The symbol is strong: it means a couple growing closer.
If the querent is single, the two hearts announce a romantic encounter. If the querent is already in a relationship, it means their relationship is marked by stable, mature, thoughtful love.
This isn’t necessarily the kind of passion that burns everything in its path, but a love that is constructive and well established, between responsible, wise people. There’s no rush here, but a powerful love, based on principles aimed at building something and making it last.
The unexpected will shake up the querent’s world. They’ll have to accept these unwanted events and keep adapting, to get through these upheavals as well as possible.
No need for the querent to worry: we can’t control everything. We do have free will, but what we’re meant to live, Destiny makes us live one way or another.
Another possible reading: if the querent wants to know whether money will come in, it goes without saying that, if they feel like it, they can always try games of chance, in moderation. They could be quite surprised by a completely unexpected win. Luck is on the querent’s side.
If the spider is upright (that is, with the sun at the top of the card), the meaning is negative: a sad time lies ahead, marked by tears and sorrow. Still, the querent can take heart: this moment, delicate as it is, isn’t meant to last. There’s no sign that this disappointment will go on for months. It’s just a difficult patch. The querent should hang in there, because it’s through adversity and fighting spirit that we learn the most. As the French saying goes: “spider in the morning brings sorrow”.
Conversely, if the moon is at the top of the card, the querent can be happy: hopes will come true. Good news is on its way. Everything is moving in the right direction. As the saying goes: “spider in the evening brings hope”.
Delays and setbacks will keep things from going as smoothly as hoped.
The querent will have to be patient, very patient! Everything is slowed down, blocked, hindered. Frustration will be part of the picture. You’ll have to summon your courage.
What’s more, if the querent still wants to go against the message of the cards, tell them, or tell yourself, that trying to force the doors of Destiny has never helped anyone. Worse, it can lead straight to failure. If Destiny puts this obstacle in your way, perhaps there’s simply a reason for it. Perhaps you should review your project: is something missing? What can you do to improve the situation?
Try to turn this forced wait into something positive and constructive.
Contacts abroad are possible. The querent may also travel. Not short hops, though: this is long-distance travel. The plane flies over the sea and the boat sails on the water: both of these means of transport point to another continent.
If the querent is wondering about their life in the broad sense, the Boat card may reflect a need to clear their head, break the routine, head into the unknown, and not stay stuck in a “homebody” life that no longer satisfies them.
In any case, there’s a longing to go far, to travel, to discover a new culture, another way of doing things. It’s really about moving toward something new, with a true break from everyday life.
The Lion symbolizes strength, courage, and perseverance. Be careful, though, because the lion is a double-edged sword. It can stand for strength, fighting spirit, and energy, but for that, it has to be well channeled. If the lion isn’t tamed, its strength can turn against it.
The querent may go through a phase of renewed energy. Their eagerness to roll up their sleeves and dive into a new project will serve them well. But be careful not to rush in without any thought: you need to scout the terrain before making a decision. Don’t be the bull that charges without assessing the situation. Having energy is good. Using it wisely is better.
In this case, it’s better to take precautions. Hypocrisy and lies reign. You’ll have to guard against cheap shots. The querent hasn’t made only friends.
The querent should be wary, because not everyone wishes them well. The atmosphere is toxic and calls for real precautions. Stay vigilant.
This isn’t the time to reveal your plans: someone could pull the rug out from under you.
Keep written records as much as possible. Protect yourself.
If the querent has to sign a contract, they should read every clause they’re committing to. They mustn’t commit lightly, or it will be too late.
If needed, call on a professional.
Major transformations will take place. The querent will undergo a metamorphosis. This is the sign of a second wind. It may mean, for example, a new lease on life, a return of vitality, or a pregnancy.
It’s a kind of transmutation. Nothing is lost, everything is transformed, as the saying goes. That’s exactly the message of this card.
Something is ending to make way for a new stage, a new chapter about to be written in the querent’s life. There’s every reason to rejoice: the first lines of this chapter will be lovely.
Someone is thinking of the querent.
Thought also has an undeniable spiritual power. A spirit, incarnate or discarnate, wants to make itself known to the querent. They’re not alone. That’s good news, because their spiritual protections are working.
The querent’s prayers are heard. They can be sure that people surround them and protect them with love and loyalty.
The querent shouldn’t hesitate to light a white candle (for example) in a consecrated place (a church being the consecrated place par excellence), so that its flame may reach their guardian angel. Because thanking the forces that protect you is the least you can do. You can also pray, if that’s part of your beliefs.
This card speaks of physical attraction, even of sexuality.
If the querent doesn’t want a baby (the result of sexuality), they’ll need to use protection.
Sensuality is in the air.
A time of growth awaits the querent. There’s a desire for surprising experiences that break with everyday life.
The wish to enjoy yourself, to feel good in your body and in your mind, is very much present.
Both positions of this card must be taken into account, just as with the Spider card (8). If the road narrows at the bottom of the card, it points to a bump in the road, something unexpected that can be sorted out.
But if, on the contrary, the road opening before the querent is wider, the consequences will be greater and may get in the way of their life running smoothly. The usual precautions and measures will need to be taken.
The querent is protected. They have nothing to fear. They can rest easy and launch a new project without too much worry. They’ll be guided, and the doors of Destiny will open to them without much difficulty.
This fairly strong spiritual protection shields the querent from turmoil. Even though it’s active, the querent can strengthen it by thanking their protectors. A prayer or a candle are excellent ways to give thanks.
Luck is on the querent’s side. It’s worth making the most of it, because these lucky periods aren’t meant to last forever.
Attention all women hoping for a baby… If this card is drawn, it’s a sign of a coming pregnancy. If the stork is upright, the pregnancy has every chance of blossoming.
If the stork is reversed, the pregnancy may call for extra care. Precautions will be needed.
In any case, it will no doubt be important to be followed by professionals: a midwife, an OB-GYN…
If the querent is looking for a career path, the path is clear: it will involve supporting pregnant women.
What stands out is the woman’s body, in all that is most deeply marked by motherhood.
A large sum of money will come in.
It may be regular income, which suggests a raise, and so a possible promotion or a salary review.
Money can also point to a good time to invest. Real estate can also be symbolized by the Money card.
You’ll need to manage this large sum carefully. It’s also up to you to decide what to do with it: reinvest it, spend it, save it, give it away… Be careful, because a windfall can sometimes burn a hole in some people’s pockets.
This card means a festive gathering, a very good omen.
Accept the invitations that come your way, because friendly, festive moments are so many chances to share, to have a good time, and to celebrate in all sorts of ways.
The querent can rest assured: everything suggests a happy outcome, and it will be celebrated. So make the most of this occasion to share good energy and let others enjoy your happiness.
The three moons usually point to speed, to the near future. The prediction will generally come true within the month.
An event is about to turn the querent’s life upside down. Better to be ready, because it will happen quickly. Speed is what you should take away from this card.
It’s often the sign of esotericism in all its forms: psychic readings, energy work, and so on. The querent could receive messages from the beyond through perceptions, signs from Destiny, premonitory dreams.
Open yourself to the unknown, to the spiritual world.
If the querent is wondering about a spiritual awakening, it’s very much there and suggests real predispositions.
Listen to your sixth sense, your intuition. The channels are open for you to receive an important message.
The tools embody work and everything related to it. You’ll have to roll up your sleeves and put in the right effort. You don’t get something for nothing.
The querent can reach their goals, provided they keep up a steady effort.
Everything points toward building something. The querent already has everything they need to work at their own level. They could surprise themselves with their determination to get what they deeply want.
Summer symbolizes the season itself. An important event will happen at that time. The Summer card may answer a question from the querent about dating an event.
It’s also a sign that a cycle is reaching its peak. The querent can’t go any further: they’ve obtained everything they could. They can be content with all they’ve achieved, because the fruits of their harvest are ripe.
The querent may feel joy and elation.
It’s a full season, ideal for sharing, loyalty, closeness, and warm relationships. A good omen.
It’s a certainty. What must happen will happen. There’s no fighting the inevitable. That’s just the way it is.
If the querent is seeking approval, it’s right there. No more doubting: it’s time to move forward and throw themselves wholeheartedly into what they want.
In every case, the querent ends up getting answers to their questions. What was still a little vague and undecided is finally settled. There’s no more room for questions. The time has come to know for sure.
This seems to be a bad sign: it’s dry, with nothing to gain. You might as well find another way out.
The Desert clearly shows the querent that, unfortunately, there’s nothing to hope for. All the effort they might put in would be in vain. It isn’t the right time. Something is wrong.
Where the ground is this barren, nothing will grow. It’s a lost cause, and you have to face the facts.
The querent can ask for outside help to get out of this dead end.
News will arrive: a call, an email, a letter, a fax… It usually arrives fairly quickly.
The querent will receive a gift, or else the Oracle Gé invites them to be more generous and give gifts themselves.
It’s a partnership, solidarity, significant help that will allow the querent to succeed.
A hand is held out, so it would be wise for the querent to seize this opportunity. Something will take shape through a possible partnership: a contract is signed. Someone comes to your aid. Accept it with humility.
The querent isn’t alone and will be able to give thanks for this help, which will no doubt come at a key moment in their life.
The Scales symbolize everything related to trade.
If the querent is looking to set up a project, they could turn to careers in sales or finance.
The scales also have to do with reference points on two separate pans, which should be compared. Harmony always comes first, to find a real point of balance, useful in anyone’s life. Make a point of cultivating sound, friendly relationships.
The dog embodies loyalty and sincere friendship. The querent is lucky to have such a supportive circle. People close to them come to help and advise them. They’re loyal and always give good advice.
The querent can thank those around them for being so caring.
Here too, it’s better to protect yourself. The atmosphere is tense, marked by hypocrisy and gratuitous spite. The querent is in a delicate position.
Be wary and on your guard, because the snake can bite at any moment, especially when you least expect it.
Watch out for people who make you believe they wish you well while, behind your back, they spread spite and gossip.
If need be, you’ll have to be less nice and stand up for your interests.
It represents a general practitioner, or a specialist in a given field.
If the querent is worried about their physical condition, it’s best to gently encourage them to keep up with their follow-up. This card isn’t meant to make the querent panic at the slightest worry, but rather to invite caution and balance.
The querent’s vitality isn’t an unlimited resource, and it’s time they paid attention to it.
If needed, it would be wiser to get a little checkup. Just to know where the querent stands.
The querent gathers small sums of money. They seem like nothing, but added up, they can make a nice little nest egg.
So it would be wise to keep an eye on balancing the budget. Because the squirrel can just as easily store up as spend. It all depends on what it feels like.
Upright (with the syringe), checkups or tests may be on the way. The “problem” isn’t a serious one: there may be a procedure, but the querent usually gets through it without too much difficulty.
Reversed, the matter may be more worrying, and a hospital stay is possible. Whatever the card shows, only a professional can tell you where you stand.
The querent is going through a loneliness that weighs on them. They’re feeling “blue”. It’s time to look into the reasons for this little slump. Something isn’t right in the querent’s life, and it’s possible to set things straight.
So take the time to understand what’s happening, to find the right solutions. Every problem has its solution!
One of the first ways out is to break the isolation the querent feels and lives with. So go out, get some fresh air, do yourself some good.
Get moving too: exercise can help you let off steam and release those negative energies from your body.
This card is a pleasant one: it represents leisure, the sea, vacations, and it can also symbolize foreign lands. It’s time to enjoy a touch of the exotic, some freshness, a real breath of fresh air away from an everyday routine that probably feels too confining. So enjoy it. Go out. Free yourself from whatever weighs on you.
The querent is entering a lucky period, with luck in games of chance as well. So make the most of this cycle, which heralds luck and success of all kinds. It isn’t meant to last either.
Rejoice in what’s happening to you. Make plans and carry them out: you’re in a good cycle. Everything is favored. So go for it.
This card warns of physical worries. It’s a sign to take care of yourself and get checked.
If the rat’s tail is at the top, the worries may be more serious. Don’t put off seeing a professional.
In any case, your body shouldn’t be neglected, and it’s important to look after it. It’s up to the querent to do so, because no one else can do it for them.
Paperwork lies ahead. You’ll have to deal with a pile of forms to fill out! It will be up to the querent to get organized, free up some time, and take care of the administrative tasks.
It may also refer to a period of training, exams, or competitive tests, with an exchange between several parties. Everything administrative stands out.
This card represents the winter season. An important event will happen to the querent at that time. Winter can be the deciding season for dating an event in the querent’s life.
Winter also means snow and ice, which can be read as a sign that the querent’s life is cold, even frozen, bringing them no satisfaction. Everything moves in slow motion. The querent’s efforts get them absolutely nowhere. They feel like they’re spinning their wheels. It’s only a tiresome cycle, and it will end sooner or later. So the querent must summon courage and patience. You might as well put this downtime to good use by looking inward and doing some soul-searching… Knowing yourself better always helps you start again on a better footing.
It’s the end of one cycle and the dawn of another.
A decision will have to be made after careful thought. A path must be chosen. Many paths and possibilities are open to the querent. It’s up to them to weigh the pros and cons.
Indecision is precisely what must be fought, to be sure of making the right decision. If needed, the querent can get help from professionals, who will stay neutral and won’t try to decide for them. Because the people close to them are often emotionally involved, and may confuse the querent even more.
With enough distance, by trying to look at the situation objectively, one path will stand out from the others.
It represents all careers related to the arts: music, theater, etc. It may also refer to entertainment, to ideas for outings, as a way for the querent to express what they feel deep down.
A contract may be signed. It can also represent a person who embodies justice: a notary, a lawyer, a mayor…
It’s best to stay on the straight and narrow, so you have nothing to reproach yourself for.
All the sums you owe will have to be paid, one way or another, either in this life or in another. So, to avoid starting a life already in debt before you’re even born, pay everything you owe here below.
Justice has no qualms. So be vigilant. Don’t try to cheat, or the price will be even harsher.
Depending on the position of the card, the young woman is either blond or brunette. Her hair color shows at the top right of the card. This young woman will play an important role in the situation you’re asking about. Look at where this card falls within the overall meaning of the spread to understand its impact on the reading: is it in a position of strength or weakness? Does it support another card, or does it stand alone?
Depending on the position of the card, the young man pictured will be either dark-haired or blond. This young man, too, will be decisive in solving a problem. We advise you to study the position of this card to understand its positive/negative impact in relation to the surrounding cards.
The woman represents the mother, or anyone in a maternal role. She, too, will matter in resolving a situation. Here again, it’s wise to study the position of this card to refine the interpretation.
The man may represent the father, or anyone in a paternal role. Once again, this card points to the presence and influence of this figure in a given situation, as the previous ones do. Study its position to complete the interpretation.
The female querent has a role to play in her own future. This card, like the ones above, should be interpreted according to its position in the spread. It may be in a position of strength or, on the contrary, of weakness. It all depends on its surroundings.
You’re the only person who can make things happen. Don’t wait for circumstances to come from outside: change has to come from you.
Take the first step. The first step is always the hardest, but once you get going, nothing will stop you.
The male querent also has a role to play in his own future. This card, like the previous ones, shows the importance of this figure in a given situation. This time, it’s the querent himself who will have an impact. You still need to see where the card falls within the spread to know its strength or weakness.
The older woman often represents the grandmother, or any “elderly” person. This figure will play a significant role in the coming months. Her place in the spread will tell you more about her impact.
The older man represents a man in his later years. This figure, like the others above, will be the key to influencing a situation, for better or for worse. The position of this card will tell you more about his strength or weakness.
Arguments and difficulties are coming.
It’s often in times of crisis that we learn the most about our surroundings and about ourselves. Try to calm the atmosphere as much as you can, so the situation doesn’t get worse.
Don’t say anything in anger: you could regret it later, and the damage will have been done.
Everything left unsaid is likely to spill out. But under the effect of frustration, anger takes over, and everything comes out in tension and shouting.
Your nerves will be sorely tested. Try to stay calm.
A retreat from the city: the time has come to rest.
It’s time to let go, to take care of yourself, and to get away from the hustle and noise. Take a break from a life that’s too hectic, too busy. You’re not made to run on high voltage all the time. You can’t keep putting yourself on the back burner forever. Don’t wait for a louder wake-up call to look after yourself.
An important event in the querent’s life will happen in the fall. This card is used to date an event.
Autumn is also the very symbol of a need to strip things back, to go to the essentials and get rid of everything superfluous. The time has come for a good spring cleaning, keeping only what serves you.
A clear step forward is coming in the querent’s life. Things will improve. And it was probably about time.
It may mean a professional promotion: you move up a rung on your way to the top.
It may mean a relationship with a shared history, whose foundations are solid and moving toward a kind of fusion.
So there are no bad surprises here, since these foundations give the querent a strong footing. It’s an improvement that promises more success to come.
Time is essential: good things come to those who wait, and time always works in your favor.
The time has come to become independent. The lynx is also a solitary animal that can’t easily be tamed.
The querent is facing someone unpredictable, with a strong personality. The game isn’t won yet. It will take patience and a great deal of self-sacrifice. The querent won’t be the one calling the shots. They’ll have to adapt accordingly.
There may be a desire to return to a state of nature, where there are no rules. Satisfying primal instincts comes first.
Be careful not to slip up, because returning to your primal instincts also means no longer respecting what you’ve built, no longer thinking about responsibilities, about tomorrow, and so on. But this state isn’t meant to last in our civilized world, unless you want to go live in the forest, in exile, far from consumer society.
It may herald a funeral, a death. Careful: it isn’t necessarily about the querent’s death. When this card appears, teeth may clench, and for good reason. It can be compared to the nameless card of the Marseille Tarot (number 13).
It’s simply the end of a cycle, which can also be likened to the end of a life.
The time has come to reflect and say goodbye to the past.
Beware of any abuse, any fraud: a theft is possible. Take the necessary measures. Not everyone wishes you well.
An offer that seems too good to be true is bound to have a catch. Just use your common sense to see through dishonest offers.
If you need to, call on professionals.
Stay careful and measured in what you do.
The atmosphere is calm and serene. This card brings peace and shows freedom in all its splendor. At last, the querent has been able to shed everything that was weighing them down. The struggle was hard, but it led to a real sense of freedom. How good that feels!
This card is about written documents and signatures. The notary may be represented. Still, remember to read carefully what you’re committing to.
A contract will be signed, and chances are you’ll be in a position of strength.
Congratulations!
Now that we’ve gone through the 61 cards of the Oracle Gé, I suggest we turn to a sample spread, to guide you in interpreting it.
Let’s say Meghan has separated from Harry. She wants to know how her love life will evolve.
I draw 5 cards to make a cross spread.
I think about my querent’s question, shuffle the cards, and cut my Oracle Gé deck in two. This is called the cut. For Meghan’s question, the cut gives me 53 (the Broken Champagne Flute) and 25 (the Exclamation Point).
I read the cut as a separation (the Broken Champagne Flute) that seemed inevitable (the Exclamation Point). The separation didn’t go very well, even though both partners seemed to have been suffering for quite some time.
I place the first card on the left, the second on the right, the third at the top, the fourth at the bottom, and the fifth in the center (between the first and the second).
So I get: the Divided Heart (36), Justice (44), the Countryside (54), the Numbers (7) covered by the Stork (18), and the Arrows (42).
First of all, we can see that, at present, Meghan is indeed suffering from the situation. She feels alone and isolated, and the separation hasn’t set her free. Justice will come into the picture. So I assume that the couple Meghan and Harry once formed was bound by a contract (a civil union, a marriage…).
Meghan will no doubt have to take legal steps to make this separation official in the eyes of the law. The separation will become real in concrete terms, which may also echo the sadness felt in the first place. The Countryside, drawn third, shows Meghan’s need to step back from all the recent events she’s been through. She needs to catch her breath, take stock within herself, and spend time alone. The calm will help her ease her legitimate sadness after this separation. She’ll probably need time before finding a new partner. The calm of the Countryside suggests she’ll go through a bit of a lull.
However, something unexpected is coming that will turn everything upside down. The card of the unexpected is covered by the Stork. Chances are that Meghan will find out she’s pregnant after this separation. The news, surprising in many ways and probably not something she had planned, will put everything back on the table. A choice will have to be made.
We can see the possibility of keeping this pregnancy or ending it, in the context of the separation. The choice can also be read on the side of her relationship: will she get back together with her ex, or leave him for good? And what will become of the legal steps Meghan had started?
A question, an experience, another way of seeing things… The discovery continues in the conversation.
