Labradorite Jewelry

If I had to recommend a stone to someone changing course, it would probably be labradorite, and the labradorite jewelry gathered here would suit that moment well. It has the restraint of a November sky, crossed by colors you didn’t see coming. It’s linked to renewal and intuition, as well as to a quiet kind of protection, for anyone venturing somewhere new.

The Kinthia notebook

A stone, a style,
your story.

A few pointers to find what feels like you.

Labradorescence, a word for a phenomenon

Labradorite is a feldspar with a gray, gray-green, or nearly black base. At a certain angle, patches of color light up in it, blue most often, sometimes green, yellow, or orange, then vanish if you turn the stone. This play of color has been given its own name, labradorescence. Polished as a cabochon, it shows it at its best.

Renewal, intuition, protection

Its card brings together three ideas: holding your course, listening to what you sense, and leaving a door open to the unknown. People like to wear it during a departure or a change, more to remember their intentions than to expect anything at all from it.

Cabochons, prongs, and beads

Here you’ll mostly find rings: large oval cabochons in bezel settings, smaller stones held by prongs, toi et moi settings. Alongside them are beaded bracelets, sometimes paired with a fine chain, and a few necklaces made of several stones, labradorite among them.

Who to give it to

It comes to mind for someone starting a new job, moving far away to study, or getting ready for a move. Its gray-green goes with everything, and its hidden colors make it a piece that keeps being rediscovered, even by someone who has worn it for years.
