The Kinthia collection
Painters long ground lapis lazuli to make ultramarine blue, so costly it was kept for the Virgin’s mantle, and that same blue lives in our lapis lazuli jewelry. It looks like no other: it seems to absorb light rather than reflect it. The stone is linked to wisdom, and to the truth sought beneath the surface.
The Kinthia notebook
A few pointers to find what feels like you.
Lapis lazuli isn’t a single mineral but a rock. Its blue comes from lazurite, its white veins from calcite, and the small shiny grains you sometimes see in it from pyrite. Its name pairs the Latin lapis, stone, with a Persian word for this blue stone. It’s opaque and is polished into cabochons or beads.
Tradition places it on the side of wisdom and truth: seeing past the first impression, paying attention to your intuitions. It’s also connected with sincere exchanges. As always, this is a tradition you can embrace or not: the stone imposes nothing.
The selection includes rings where lapis lazuli appears as a cabochon, sometimes cut into figurative shapes, chakra sets where its blue takes the place of indigo, and objects such as orgonites, where it forms a layer that’s easy to recognize.
Its deep blue goes with gold-tone settings, which warm it, as well as with silver-tone, which makes it cooler. It can be worn every day without growing tiresome. A gift that picks itself for lovers of art, of history, or simply of blue, the kind that never quite goes out of style.
